General
Only ASL may use the relevant ASL symbol on stationery, reports and certificates, websites and brochures, and other items relating to ASL's accreditation activities, subject to the terms and conditions set out in this publication.
Only ASL and ASL accredited CABs may use the relevant ASL symbol on stationery, quotations, reports and certificates, websites and brochures, and other items relating to the accreditation activity of the accredited body, subject to the terms and conditions set out.
The ASL symbols shall not be used in any way which implies that ASL accepts responsibility for activities carried out within the scope of accreditation and/or certification.
Each ASL accredited CAB has a responsibility to minimise the risk of the client being misled about the limits of ASL accreditation, whether in relation to quotations, work being carried out or results being reported.
Reports and certificates issued by accredited CABs containing information on accredited activities and the results and outcomes of non-accredited and/or sub-contracted activities will readily distinguish those activities which fall under the body's accreditation from those which do not.
All quotations for work bearing the ASL symbol will clearly indicate those activities which are not accredited by ASL.
The ASL symbol for certification activities will not be used on reports and certificates issued by laboratories, inspection CABs, proficiency testing providers, reference material producers, validation CABs or medical diagnostic service providers.
Promotional material
ASL accredited CABs are entitled to include the appropriate ASL symbol in promotional material referring to accredited services, provided that the conditions relating to their reproduction contained in this publication are met.
The term 'promotional material' shall not include notices, labels, documents or written declarations which appear on any goods or services, unless the goods or services are manufactured under the accredited scope of the CAB. This restriction shall also apply to primary packaging and promotional products.
These restrictions may also apply to other goods, items or services, as ASL may determine from time to time.
The ASL logo and ASL symbols shall not be displayed on any vehicle by a ASL accredited CAB.
The ASL logo and ASL emblem shall not be displayed on buildings and flagpoles.
ASL accredited CABs may display the ASL logo on internal walls and doors, and exhibition stalls.
Suspension and termination of ASL accreditation
Upon termination of the relevant ASL accreditation, accredited CABs shall immediately cease to issue certificates, reports and quotations for work displaying the ASL logo and this shall also include the removal of the ASL logo shown on their websites.
Upon suspension of ASL accreditation, accredited CABs will immediately cease distribution of all goods on which the ASL logo is displayed and this includes removing the ASL logo shown on their websites.
If accreditation is withdrawn from a ASL accredited body in respect of a scheme under which the body owns and licenses its own mark/logo, the body will take all reasonable steps to ensure that its licensees immediately cease using stationery, literature, advertising (including web pages), goods, labelling and packaging bearing the ASL logo.
The ASL logo may only be used if the client's SCOPE falls under ASL accreditation.
The ASL logo must not be used in any way which misleads the reader about the accredited status of the certification body or the certified body.
The ASL logo shall not be displayed on vehicles except on promotional material such as part of a larger advertisement.
The ASL logo shall not be displayed on buildings and flags.
The ASL logo shall not be used on visiting cards
The ASL logo may be reproduced in any size provided that they do not distort or alter the aspect ratio or relative proportions of the logo
